It is a catastrophic fact that 13 million hectares of the world’s forests are lost due to irresponsible deforestation every year. Between 2000 and 2011 Brazil alone has suffered an average annual net loss of forest area of some 1.725 million hectares. Unfortunately, the majority of this deforestation in Brazil can be attributed directly to humans.

The conversion of forests to agricultural land, unsustainable forest management, highway construction and the expansion of towns and cities each are imposing their own effect. The related pollution and climate change also have negative impacts on forest biological diversity.

Forests used to be all about timber production. Now they are recognised as being important for biological diversity, maintenance of ecosystem services and the mitigation of climate change. I.T.A.S Limited, committed to sustainable forest management by local people for the on going protection of the world’s forests.
